Version 2.0.1 does not access or collect LinkedIn cookies. It includes an optional, user-initiated LinkedIn profile preview and analysis feature that processes visible information from a profile selected by the user, as described in Section 1.8.
1.8 LinkedIn Profile Preview and Analysis
The Dotsin Chrome Extension includes an optional, user-initiated LinkedIn profile preview and compatibility analysis feature.
Data collected
When a user opens a LinkedIn profile and explicitly chooses to analyze that profile, the Extension may collect information visible on the selected profile page, including:
- Name and profile photo
- LinkedIn profile URL and username
- Headline and location
- About or summary information
- Publicly visible work experience
- Publicly visible education
- Publicly visible skills
- Publicly visible profile activity or posts, where available
- Other publicly visible profile information required to generate the requested analysis
How the data is collected
Collection begins only after the user chooses the profile analysis feature and provides consent. The Extension may use Chrome permissions, including activeTab, scripting, tabs, and debugger, to access, load, scroll through, and inspect visible sections of the user-selected LinkedIn profile.
The debugger permission is used only during the user-initiated profile preview and analysis process. It helps the Extension load and inspect visible profile sections that are required to generate the requested analysis.
How the data is used
The collected profile information is used only to:
• Generate the profile preview requested by the user
• Generate compatibility, relevance, or relationship analysis
• Compare the selected profile with information, spaces, preferences, or context selected by the user
• Display and save the requested analysis in the user's Dotsin account
• Maintain, secure, and improve this user-facing feature
Transmission and storage
The selected profile information may be securely transmitted over HTTPS to Dotsin's servers for processing and generation of the requested analysis. Analysis results and associated profile information may be stored in the user's Dotsin account and may also be temporarily stored in the Extension's local Chrome storage.
We retain this information only for as long as necessary to provide the requested functionality, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain security. Users may request deletion of stored profile information and analysis results by contacting Dotsin using the contact information provided in this Privacy Policy.
What the Extension does not collect
Version 2.0.1 of the Dotsin Chrome Extension does not:
• Request the Chrome cookies permission
• Access, read, collect, transmit, or store LinkedIn cookies
• Access LinkedIn authentication tokens, including the li_at or JSESSIONID cookies
• Collect LinkedIn passwords
• Access private LinkedIn messages
• Import the user's LinkedIn connections through cookie-based access
• Begin LinkedIn profile collection automatically without the user initiating the analysis
Consent and user controls
Before LinkedIn profile information is collected, the Extension presents a disclosure explaining what visible profile information will be collected and how it will be used. The user must take an affirmative action to consent and start the analysis.
Users may decline the analysis, close the preview, sign out of Dotsin, disable the relevant integration, remove locally stored Extension data, uninstall the Extension, or request deletion of information stored in their Dotsin account.
Sharing and sale of data
Dotsin does not sell LinkedIn profile information or use it for third-party advertising. Information may be shared only with service providers that process data on Dotsin's behalf, where necessary to provide the requested analysis, maintain security, comply with the law, or protect the rights and safety of Dotsin and its users.
