Account Deactivation and Deletion Instructions

This page explains how Dots-In users can temporarily deactivate an account or permanently delete an account from the app settings screen.

Overview

Dots-In gives users two separate account controls: temporary account deactivation and permanent account deletion. Deactivation is intended for users who want to take a break while preserving their account data. Deletion is intended for users who want their Dots-In account and associated data permanently removed.

Both options are available from inside the Dots-In mobile app settings. To find them, open the Dots-In app, go to Settings, and scroll down until you see the account deactivation and account deletion buttons.

How to Deactivate Your Account

  • Open the Dots-In app and sign in to the account you want to deactivate.
  • Go to the app's Settings screen.
  • Scroll down toward the bottom of Settings until you see the account controls.
  • Tap the account deactivation button.
  • Review the confirmation dialog titled "Deactivate Account?".
  • Confirm only if you want your account to be temporarily hidden from other users.

What Deactivation Means

When you deactivate your account, your profile, posts, and account information are hidden from other users while the account remains deactivated. This is a temporary state designed for taking a break from Dots-In.

Your data is preserved during the deactivation period. You can reactivate your account at any time by signing back in with the same account credentials, unless your account has separately been deleted or restricted for policy, legal, or security reasons.

Deactivate Account Confirmation

Before deactivation is completed, Dots-In shows a confirmation dialog titled "Deactivate Account?". The dialog explains that your account will be temporarily hidden from other users and that you can reactivate it at any time by signing back in.

If you do not want to continue, cancel the dialog. If you confirm, the deactivation process will begin and your account visibility will be updated according to the app's account status rules.

How to Permanently Delete Your Account

  • Open the Dots-In app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  • Go to the app's Settings screen.
  • Scroll down toward the bottom of Settings until you see the account controls.
  • Tap the account deletion button.
  • Review the confirmation dialog titled "Delete Account Permanently?".
  • Confirm only if you understand that deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

What Deletion Means

Deleting your account permanently deletes your Dots-In account and all associated data. This includes your profile, posts, insights, settings, and other information linked to your account.

After deletion is completed, you will lose access to the deleted account. The action cannot be undone, and the account cannot be recovered. If you later want to use Dots-In again, you may need to create a new account, subject to availability and current app rules.

Delete Account Confirmation

Before permanent deletion is completed, Dots-In shows a confirmation dialog titled "Delete Account Permanently?". The dialog warns that the action is permanent, cannot be undone, and will permanently remove account data, insights, and content associated with the account.

If you are unsure, cancel the dialog and consider deactivating your account instead. Only confirm deletion when you are certain that you no longer need access to the account or its associated information.

Deactivation vs Deletion

  • Choose deactivation if you want to temporarily hide your account and return later.
  • Choose deletion if you want to permanently remove your Dots-In account and associated data.
  • A deactivated account can be reactivated by signing back in.
  • A deleted account cannot be recovered after deletion is completed.
  • If you only need a break, deactivation is the safer option.

If You Cannot Access the App

If you cannot sign in, cannot access Settings, or need help with an account request, email pioneer@dotsin.ai from the email address associated with your Dots-In account. Include your name, account email, and whether you want deactivation, deletion, or help regaining access.

For security and privacy, we may need to verify your identity before acting on an account request submitted outside the app.

Processing and Retention

Most in-app account status changes begin after you confirm the relevant dialog. Some deletion-related processing may take additional time because systems, backups, logs, fraud-prevention records, legal records, or security records may follow separate retention schedules where permitted or required by law.

Dots-In aims to limit retained information to what is necessary for legal compliance, safety, dispute resolution, security, service integrity, and legitimate business records. For more information, review the Privacy Policy and Data Usage Disclosure.
